The School Sport Survey returns in 2026 and provides an important opportunity for every school in Wales to hear directly from pupils about their experiences of sport and activity.

The Survey offers clear insight that supports school improvement, strengthens curriculum planning and helps shape opportunities for pupils both in school and in the community. Our team can support you to complete the survey and develop projects based on your report.

Why the survey matters

The Survey helps schools understand what children do, would like to do more of, enjoy most, and how they feel in and around sport. The survey also captures important information on what sports schools offer, facilities available, links with local community clubs, and available resources and skillsets across the sector. This insight allows you to plan provision that reflects pupil voice and strengthens wellbeing. Past results have supported schools to evolve their offers, identify new opportunities and build stronger connections with community sport.

The data is also used by Sport Wales, the Welsh Government and partners across the sport, health and education sectors to inform investment in programmes and facilities. Your participation helps ensure that national and local decisions are based on real evidence from your pupils. “Giving children a real voice in how physical activity is shaped is essential. The Survey provides valuable insight that helps create opportunities designed for children and by children. It strengthens the ability of schools and community partners to build healthier and happier futures for young people.” Children’s Commissioner for Wales.
